Former South African captain and an important member of the current CSK squad, Faf du Plessis captained St Lucia Kings in CPL 2021. He is currently sitting out and might not be fit for the prestigious IPL second phase starting from 19th September.

In the first phase of IPL 2021 played, Faf du Plessis played an important role with 320 runs from 7 matches (7 innings) with the best score of 95* against Kolkata Knight Riders. During his brilliant performances, du Plessis hit 4 half-centuries and helped CSK to go into 2nd place.

Sam Curran

The English all-rounder Sam Curran just landed in UAE for the 2nd phase of IPL 2021. He could be an ideal option for CSK if Faf du Plessis misses out. Curran opened the batting for CSK four times in the past during his short IPL career.

Curran could take advantage of the field restrictions in first six overs and go all out right from the word go. If the all-rounder fails to succeed, CSK might not suffer. If the plan works, it will provide impetus for other batsmen to build a massive total.
