ENG Vs SA 1st T20I, Yesterday Match Result, Highlights: England Defeats South Africa By 41 Runs Thanks To Bairstow And Ali

England performed brilliantly overall, giving the hosts a well-earned 1-0 victory in the T20I series. Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali’s valiant batting enabled England to defeat the Proteas by 41 runs.

England won the match after being given the opportunity to bat first. England scored 234 runs, to which South Africa could only respond with 193 runs after the allotted 20 overs.

Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan contributed to England’s strong opening performance. They were then dismissed, and the Bairstow and Ali performance got going.

While Jonny Bairstow hammered a quick-fire 90 off just 53 deliveries, Moeen Ali smacked an 18-ball 52. England scored a whopping 93 runs in the final 5 overs to enable them reach 234.

South Africa had a terrible start as it prepared to pursue the enormous aim. De Kock and Rossouw were lost quite quickly.

Tristan Stubbs suffered a relentless beating after Reeza Hendricks’ ferocious 57 off 3 deliveries, as he amassed 72 from just 28 deliveries.

Even though South Africa put up a good fight, they fell short, and in the end, England won by 41 runs.

Throughout the majority of their reply, South Africa kept pace with the rate but were unable to beat England in the final four overs, finishing on 193/8.

The highlight was a sensational 72 from 28 deliveries from 21-year-old Tristan Stubbs, who made his debut on the international stage with the second-fastest half-century for South Africa in T20 matches, off 19 balls.

Reeza Hendricks opened the innings with a quick 57 off 33 deliveries, but the tourists ended up having too much work to do.

South Africa occasionally turned out to be their own worst enemy on the field, costing Bairstow four lives with a string of rather simple lost catches.

He and Moeen shared a thrilling 106 runs off 35 deliveries for the fourth wicket before he was bowled for 90 from 53 balls.

South Africa tried to bowl shorter lengths in an effort to offset the tight straight boundaries.

However, England quickly surpassed their previous T20 record of 15 sixes by hitting 20 as Bairstow and Moeen pounded them square of the wicket.
