Happy Birthday Eric Hollies

Though Eric lived in this world from 5 June 1912 to 16 April 1981 only, he will always remain alive in our hearts. William Eric Hollies known for taking the wicket of Sir Donald George Bradman was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket in his career for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. He took 2323 wickets at less than 21 apiece.

Born in Old Hill, Staffordshire he made his debut for Warwickshire in 1932. After which in 1935 he made his debut for England. Except for the years 1936, 1953, and 1956 he took over 100 wickets for Warwickshire every year between 1935 and 1957.

It is believed that the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) regretted not taking Eric to Australia because during his peak, he was one of the best Bowlers in England. Eric was considered remarkable for his incompetence as a batsman.

Hollies died in Chinley, Derbyshire in April 1981, at the age of 68.
