Former India pacer recalls batting great’s chancy innings: Says even Sachin knew he was very lucky in that match

India faced big teams in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the finals. Taking on Australia in the quarter-finals, Pakistan in the semi-finals, and Sri Lanka in the finals. Team India captured the title by defeating all three. The 2011 World Cup was played by the entire Indian team for Sachin Tendulkar.

Before that World Cup, everyone knew that it was Sachin Tendulkar’s last World Cup. The player who has almost all the big records of the world cricket in his account did not have a World Cup.

Well, all the team members wanted this dream of Sachin’s career should be fulfilled as a tribute to his spectacular career all these years. Eventually, it happened as Sachin Tendulkar too had a big contribution in making his dream come true alongside the team.

Sachin Tendulkar had scored 85 runs against Pakistan in the semi-finals. This was the biggest individual score from India in that match. But the fast bowler Ashish Nehra who was also a part of the World Cup-winning team played in that match said that Sachin Tendulkar’s inning was the ‘luckiest’ innings of his career.

Reason for this statement of Ashish Nehra

Sachin Tendulkar who took the crease after Virender Sehwag was dismissed early in that match. However, in his innings of 85 runs, Pakistan dropped 4 catches of Sachin which avoided his dismissal. Sachin got four lives in the match.

When Sachin Tendulkar was on 27, 45, 70, and 81 runs, Pakistan fielders dropped his catch and we know Sachin made the most of these by adding some runs on the board.

Ashish Nehra also said that even Sachin knows how lucky he was against Pakistan

This innings of Sachin was the difference between victory and defeat between India and Pakistan.

Match resulted in India defeating Pakistan by 29 runs taking India to the final game of the ICC World Cup 2011.

  1. Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more
than just your articles? I mean, what you say is valuable and
all. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great images or videos to give
your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics
and video clips, this site could certainly be one of the best in its
    field. Excellent blog!

  2. Hello! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if that would be okay.
I’m absolutely enjoying your blog and look forward to new posts.
