Ian Chappell’s Surprise Defense of Indian Wicketkeeper

Former Australian Test captain Ian Chappell has shocking defended the Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant on the most this disputable moment of the 3rd test day one.

Rishabh Pant was broadly criticized for appealing to claim a bumped catch of Will Pucovski before an on-field decision of out was overturned by the 3rd empire.

A photograph of Rishabh Pant raising his hand with the ball in it is being viral and when Ian Chappel was asked about that photograph, he disagreed that he claimed it.

He further said that if we look clearly at the way that how he threw the ball I think he was more or less depressed with himself about not completing the catch it was his teammates around who didn’t have a clear view of the catch, he told during an interview.

Ian pointed out that the soft signal of the Umpire after the catch was also wrong and he doesn’t believe that Pant was claiming that catch, it was rather his disappointment because it was so close.

When Chappell was asked why Pant didn’t take the step to inform the umpire that he dropped the chance. He replied, Yes, he certainly would have had the opportunity to turn around and say that I dropped the catch to the umpire but he when we see at the larger picture there are various things happening in player mind at that sudden time like thinking did I catch it? Then he starts to think that I might have caught it. So there is no problem with it.

Chappell’s thoughts differ with the majority of people around the incident including Pucovski.

Pucovski said that I thought he had claimed so I believed that he completed the catch, he also added that maybe he trusts people easily.

While Shane Warne also joined the debate and spoke that you can’t complete a catch when your hands are facing towards the Earth, and the only thing which is in his gloves is dirt and I’m disappointed with it.

Harsha Bhogle called the situation ‘very tricky’.
