India Face Attack of the Clones at Sydney Against Australia.

The African born Queenslander Marnus Labuschagne has had a wonderful journey from packing Smith’s kit bag to replacing him as the first ever concussion in the history of the game at Lords’s Test.

In the Amazon documentary – The Test, which tells about behind the scenes of Australia and England tour of 2019, Nathan Lyon shared his thoughts about the bond between Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. He thinks that they are both unique, they both loves batting and cricket is their passion. A match made in Paradise, I guess. He added.

During that Ashes, it triggered a relationship between that has stunned cricket watchers for their peculiar similarity in playing style and thinking.

On the first day of the SCG Test, the clones not only helped each other to push their limits but they also scored their highest individual scores of this series. Marnus (67) and Smith (31) had an unbroken partnership of sixty runs which was the highest third wicket stand for Australia in that series, that’s how the standards were set for the hosts.

Despite not being in the good touch, Marnus still found a way to get two scores in the forties in Melbourne and Adelaide and that shows his ability to score in thirties and forties even when you are not in your good form, this is a sign of a great batsman, Warne said during the commentary in the second Test.

Contagious Confidence

During the game when Ashwin completed his action but didn’t delivered the ball, left Labuschagne angry and irritated but when the next ball was released, he blocked it from the middle of his bat and followed his stance all the way up to the Ashwin’s face and twisted his palm to show Ashwin that he knew the spin executed on the ball.

Later that day Smith also showed the same confidence replicating the follow through of Labuschagne when he faced Bumrah for the primary time.

In the last match, Bumrah bowled out Smith through the leg stump in Melbourne and tried the same strategy by aiming the ball to the leg stump when they faced up in the 35th over, but smith batting on one blocked the ball back to Bumrah in an awkward way leaving everyone laughing at him. But they were not laughing when the last ball of the over was driven by Smith for four runs.
