Injury Nightmare Continues for India as Shreyas Iyer Ruled out of ODI Series

As per the latest reports, we got to know that Indian batter Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the series between India and Australia. The back injury of Shreyas Iyer pulled him out of the series and he is going to miss the opportunity to perform in the series.

It is a huge blow for the Indian team that their in-form middle-order batsman is out of the series due to his back injury. The news was expected when Shreyas Iyer didn’t come to bat in the 4th Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy because of lower back pain.

He went for scans during fielding and couldn’t come back for batting because of a major issue. Apart from all these things, it is expected that the Kolkata Knight Riders captain is also facing issues in walking and he might have to miss a few matches of IPL.

Some specialist doctors have also consulted the BCCI for Iyer. They will take a call on whether Iyer has to go with surgery or not. Iyer will be on the sidelines for up to three months if he undergoes surgery.

Iyer didn’t bat in the first innings of the fourth test when India scored 571 in reply to Australia’s 480 runs because of a back injury.

Rohit Sharma said that “he wasn’t in the position to come and bat. It was a flat track for batting and he waited for the whole day for his batting. The issue arose when the day got over. He was sent to the hospital immediately for scans and we are not sure when he will come back.”

“It was unfortunate for him to miss this important series, he will be missed. We are hoping for his quick recovery and I want him to play matches again as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, the senior committee hasn’t announced any replacement for Iyer for the upcoming ODI series to be started on March 17th. Sanju Samson may replace him in this series. Moreover, Rohit Sharma is also unavailable for the first Test match due to some family functions.

Hardik Pandya will lead the Indian side and will take some important decisions. Iyer had swelling in his lower back and that’s why he was injected at the NCA.

His Rehabilitation took longer than expected with Iyer missing the home ODI against New Zealand and also the first test in Nagpur last month.

The ODI series against India and Australia is very crucial for both of the teams. The World Cup is going to be played in India and both teams are preparing themselves for the big Cup.

Shreyas Iyer’s absence also has a big impact but at the same time, it also opens the places for new players. Sanju Samson can get a chance to be in Eleven or Ishan Kishan can also get a chance. This series is going to be very interesting and we will experience the captaincy of Hardik Pandya in just the first match.
