IPL 2021 – Match 11 Highlights DC chase down 195 runs target due to Shikhar Dhawan’s 92 match-winning knock

Gabbar made the run chase easy for Delhi Capitals with his 92 run knock.

In the eleventh of the IPL 2020 season, Shikhar Dhawan’s brilliant 92 run knocks helped the Capitals to win their second game at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. With this win, Delhi Capitals move up to the second spot in the points table with RCB, who holds the first spot with three wins in this season.

Punjab Kings made good of the good batting wicket of the Wankhede Stadium. Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul gave the start which the Punjab Kings were looking for.

Agarwal came back strongly after he failed in the first two matches of this season. He turned the aggressor in 122 runs with his opening partner and skipper of the PBKS team, KL Rahul.

At the other end, it was the skipper who happily played the role of the second fiddle. Rahul gave as much of the strike to Mayank Agarwal, who took the DC bowlers with ease.

Punjab Kings scored 59 runs in the first six overs of the powerplay. Agarwal scored his first half-century of the IPL 2021 season while DC kept fuming on their bowlers because of this opening start.

DC bowler went in further trouble when their premier pace bowler went for 20 runs in an over. It was the 11th over of the PBKS innings when Rahul and Rabada took on the South African pace bowler Kagiso Rabada, and they smashed three sixes in that over.

Prithvi Shaw gave Rahul another chance. But Mayank Agarwal was dismissed in the next over for a well-made 69 runs, which he scored from just 39 balls.

Later, KL Rahul smashed another fifty in this season. He completed his half-century in just 45 deliveries and took Punjab Kings to 130 in the 14th over. The score looked like reaching the 200 run mark after the 20 overs.

But DC’s bowlers pulled things back as they struck with a big wicket of informed player KL Rahul. The PBKS Skipper was dismissed after made a wonderful 61 runs off 51 deliveries.

Chris Gayle provides few lusty blows while Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan played cameo innings, which helped the Punjab Kings team to finish the innings on a high. The 200 runs looked certain for Punjab Kings. But they ended on 194 runs in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

DC bowlers paved their way back into the match as they successfully restricted Punjab Kings under 200 runs. Ashwin and Avesh Khan were the economical bowlers for DC.

Even though Ash didn’t bowl his full four overs, he was economical than the other bowlers. Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, and Lukman Meriwala picked up one wicket each to their names.

In reply to the PBKS score of 195 runs, the DC openers also had a good start. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan started the innings at a brisk pace. Prithvi Shaw was the one who found the boundaries at will, and he scored three fours and two sixes in his stroke-filled knock of 32 runs which came from just 17 deliveries.

Delhi Capitals were on the money in this run chase. The first six overs of the powerplay belonged to DC despite losing Shaw after he and Dhawan added an opening stand of 59 runs. In the powerplay overs, DC scored 62 runs. But the wicket of Steve Smith again put the game in the balance.

The former RR player played his first game of the IPL 2021 season, and he looked rusty as well in this match. DC Had Shikhar Dhawan, who controlled the middle overs brilliantly. He scored a flurry of boundaries which kept DC insight of the target.

Dhawan, who failed in the last game against RR, came back strongly and guided the DC to win. IN the 14th over, Dhawan went after Riley Meredith and took 18 runs from that over, and he smashed three boundaries. DC ere in the driver’s seat as the dew also made the PKBS bowlers look weak in the match.

Dhawan missed his well deserve hundred in this match. But his knock of 92 runs guided the DC team to a win. After the dismissal of Gabbar, Marcus Stoinis and Lalit Yadav finished the game for the Capitals.

Rishabh Pant, who batted after Steve Smith, was out for 15 runs. But DC got over the line because of Marcus Stoinis’s 27 runs and Lalit Yadav’s 12 unbeaten runs. DC chased down the target in just 18.4 overs and won the match by six wickets.

The PBKS bowlers struggled their way, and dew also didn’t help their cause. Jhye Richardson picked up two wickets to his name, while Arshadeep Singh and Riley Meredith picked up one wicket each to their names.

Shikhar Dhawan won the player of the match w=award for his impressive 92 runs.
