IPL 2021 – Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Knight Riders Match 5 Preview

The fifth match of the Indian Premier League is between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, 13th April 2021. The match is available on the Star Sports TV channel and live streaming apps like Hotstar, Live TV, and Ten Sports from 7.30 PM. The venue for this thrilling encounter is Chennai, MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The defending champions, Mumbai Indians, have started their IPL 2021 campaign with a loss and Kolkata Knight Riders won their first against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday.

Now MI wants to bring their season right on the winning track. KKR will want to continue its winning form in this year’s cash-rich league tournament.

Mumbai Indians will look to bat well this time around as 159 runs didn’t prove enough in the first game. Their bowling was good.

Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Marco Jackson delivered for them in that tight match. But the MI team couldn’t go past AB De Villiers, which made the difference in the end.

MI needs fireworks from Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya in the next game. They are capable match-winners and finishers. Any other batsmen in this T20 league can not do it. Hardik didn’t bowl any overs, which will be a concern for MI as his bowling gives the MI side a perfect balance.

Against KKR, the openers need to fire in their next game.  Chris Lynn played decently. But he was found guilty of running his captain Rohit Sharma out. MI can replace Lynn with Ishan Kishen as the opener, not because of the run-out. But Kishan is a suitable than the Aussie opener.

Instead of Lynn, Mumbai can add a handy middle-order batsman like James Neesham to strengthen their spin attack by adding Adam Milne. That is why against KKR, they can add Adam Milne.

Another concern for MI is their spin attack. Krunal and Rahul Chachar were not good against RCB. That is why they need a spin bowler like Milne, who can be useful on the wicket like Chepauk. KKR used three spinners in their last match. That also was the reason why they won.

Predicated, Probable Playing XI Of Mumbai Indians – Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Marco Jackson, Trent Boult, Rahul Chachar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Adam Milne.

Kolkata Knight Riders were in fine form on Sunday, and they would want that to be continued\ on Tuesday as well. Shubman Gill couldn’t score too many in the first game. But he will find his groove as this tournament goes on.

Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Rana played extremely well against the orange army. Their counter-attacking batting took them away from SRH. Rana could have waited for just two or three overs. He could have completed a mind-blowing century in the first match of the IPL 2021 season. Nevertheless, it was an amazing display from Rana.

KKR will want another good show from their top three batsmen. The top three holds the key for KKR because MI has good swing bowlers like Bumrah and Boult.

These two new ball bowlers are too good to pick up a wicket inside the first six overs. Suppose Gill and Rana could negotiate the six overs. Then the game is set for KKR, and it will also make life easy for the middle order to come good.

KKR’s only worry is the form of Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell. The England Captain has been in poor form from the T20I series against India. Morgan didn’t do well in that series, and he continued his poor form in the ODI series. KKR will want Morgan to bat at number four and come good for them.

KKR hasn’t seen the old Russell yet. Since the last season, Russell hasn’t been up to the mark. The finishing roles he used to play ease. He hasn’t been able to do that consistently. That is why KKR will Dinesh Karthik and Shakib in that middle order, and the Knight Riders can include Lockie Fergusson, which will help them strengthen their bowling.

Shakib delivered with the ball, and he will want to bat well in the upcoming games. Harbhajan Singh didn’t have a comeback match to remember, as Bhajji got just one over to bowl. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers from the KKR. But KKR will need a better spin from their spinners against a batting powerhouse team like MI.

Predicated, Probable Playing XI of Kolkata Knight Riders – KKR will play XI that faced SRH on Sunday. Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Andre Russell, Shakib Al Hasan, Pat Cummins, Harbhajan Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Varun Chakravarthy.
