No one can forget the Border-Gavaskar of 2020-21. India beating Australia for the second time in consecutive years to retain the trophy. Many new stars come out with outstanding performances from that series and one of them is right-arm medium pacer Mohammad Siraj.

The young pacer took 13 wickets in his first tour including a maiden five-wicket haul. He remained the highest wicket-taker from the Indian pacer who came as a replacement for injured Mohammad Shami.

Well, lockdown could have been useful too for many and Siraj took that seriously. Covid-19 pandemic stopped everything for months but proved to be a game-changer in Siraj’s cricketing life. He is highly praised for his fine length and accuracy in the Ind-Aus test series. He shared the secret of keeping the line and length accurate that during the Covid-19 break, he tried to hit a single stump as a bowler.

It helped in improving his aim on a particular stump and has made him an accurate bowler. His 13 wickets helped India in clinching the series against the full strength Australia at their home.

Siraj made a statement to TOI and was quoted saying that, he knew that his IPL didn’t go that well, so he tried to improve his length’s accuracy as he was aware that next season is important to him.

Siraj gave credits to team management and Skipper Virat Kohli behind his success. He said that Virat Bhai helped him a lot in gaining confidence. He added that the Indian skipper has continuously guided him in his journey.

He said for Indian Skipper that Virat Bhai told me to focus on the line and length of the ball besides doing the extra effort. It made him relax and he decided to let the bowl do its work.

There are many success stories but Siraj’s glory is like a fairy tale. His passion for the game helped him to get here in red-ball cricket. I wish him a long and fir career ahead.
