Reports: PSL 2021 likely to resume in May, to clash with the business end of IPL

Pakistani Super League which is a cricket championship organized by Pakistan Cricket Board is like to be continued by the end of May 2021 as after 14 matches, the rest of the matches had to be postponed due to increasing cases of Covid-19. Even though the players and staff were kept in a Biosecure bubble, still some of them got positive with Coronavirus and hence the matches had to be postponed.

The CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Wasim Khan, accepted that they failed to keep the players safe and in making a biosecure bubble. He said that the rest of the matches will be played in the future and they will release overseas players one after another so that they can go back to their home countries. He added that they will be looking for other options to host the games in near future and they were currently sending the players back to their home countries.

Around 7 players from different teams got infected from Coronavirus and things have gone a little out of the hands of the boards and hence they had to stop the matches so that more players don’t get affected. As more players get affected, other players lose confidence, and then it becomes uncomfortable for them to play matches. If they are not comfortable in playing, then there is no point in playing.

Though Wasim Khan hasn’t announced a specific date to continue those matches, we are expecting it to continue from May this year and there are chances that some of the matches might clash with the Indian Premier League too. If matches clash between both the leagues, it will be a huge problem as there are some of the players who are playing in both of the leagues. They will have to choose one series and it will also affect the future season as the players have signed to play in both leagues. We hope that the Pakistani Super League will continue after the end of the Indian Premier League and the players won’t have to choose one out of the two.
