Virat Kohli is considered the strongest contender to break Sachin’s records. Since his debut in 2008, he is approaching great heights in international cricket. His approach towards fitness has started the discussion as he can break any of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

Virat Is Very Close to Sachin’s Centuries Record!

Virat Kohli made his international debut against Sri Lanka in 2008. At that time no one was aware that he would be counted as the greatest cricketers and would be compared with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar owns most of the biggest record of international cricket in one-day format and Test cricket format of the game. He has conquered more than a decade of cricket. In his 24 years cricketing career, he owns records such as the most number of matches played by any player in One-days and Test formats. Along with this, he also holds the record of most international runs in the two formats of the game that is one-day and the longest format of the game.

Last Thursday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli turned 32 and in his cricketing career of 12 years, he has played a level of cricket which put him in comparison with the greatest of all time. Let’s have look at where he currently stands.

Virat has played 86 test matches so far which is 114 less than that Sachin has played. He has a record of playing 200 test matches which will remain a record for a long time. If we look at this Virat might break this one.

Sachin also made 15921 runs in test cricket which is most by any since his debut in 1989. God of cricket also owns records for 51 centuries. Virat has scored 7240 runs with 27 centuries in his pocket. It will take a lot from Virat and his fitness to even reach close to these records as making 24 more tons is not a child’s play.

Now in ODIs, Sachin has scored an Everest of runs with 18426 in 463 matches. Both are records made by the master blaster. He has a set of records of 49 tons too. Virat on the other hand has played 248 matches so far. With an outstanding average of 59.33, he has scored 11867 runs. He is currently on the second spot after Sachin in making most tons in ODI with 43 tons in his bag. Looking at his consistency, he can break the record for most tons in ODI formats and might reach close to most runs by Sachin.

Sachin has himself appointed Virat to break his records. He wants that the record breaker must be an Indian. Well for me, it could be anyone. Records are made so that they get broken one day.
