Who Has Scored Most Runs In IPL Tournament

Virat Kohli now holds the record for the most runs in IPL history, having scored 6624 in 223 matches at an average of 36.20, including 44 half-centuries and five centuries.

For the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli has been a run machine. He is the only batter to have appeared in 200 IPL games for a single team and is their highest run-scorer.

Shikhar Dhawan is the second-best run-scorer in IPL history, followed by David Warner. Warner also holds the record for the highest runs in the Indian Premier League among international exports, with AB de Villiers following him.

Over the years, there have been a number of memorable batting performances in the IPL. Here is a list of the top five players who have scored the most runs in ipl tournament:

1) Virat Kohli – 6624 runs

The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper has competed in the Indian T20 league since its inception. The Virat Kohli IPL statistics are mind-boggling. The top batsman has emerged as the tournament’s most prolific run-scorer.

So far in the IPL, the right-hander has had 223 appearances and scored 6624 runs. Kohli is only 376 runs away from being the franchise-based tournament’s first batsman to reach 7000 runs. In IPL, the fan-favorite batsman has 5 hundred and 44 half-centuries to his name.

Kohli also holds the record for most runs scored in a single season, with 973 in 2016.

2) Shikhar Dhawan – 6244 runs

Shikhar Dhawan, having played for four different IPL clubs, has the second-most runs in the Indian Premier League. His most successful tenure was with Sunrisers Hyderabad when he appeared in 85 matches and scored 2518 runs at an average of 34.49.

Shikhar Dhawan, who is currently a batsman for the Punjab Kings, has delighted fans with his consistency. In the IPL, the 35-year-old has scored 6244 runs. Since 2014, the left-hander has 47 half-centuries and two centuries to his name.

3) David Warner – 5881 Runs

Team(s): Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner is the only batsman to have consistently scored 500 runs in each IPL season since 2014. The left-handed opener has appeared in 162 IPL innings, scoring 5881 runs and averaging 42, including 55 half-centuries and four centuries.

In the IPL, Warner has scored 943 runs in 20 matches against Punjab Kings, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders (915), Royal Challengers Bangalore (754), and Mumbai Indians (661), and Chennai Super Kings (539).

4) Rohit Sharma – 5879 Runs

Team(s): Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma’s career turned for the better when he transferred from the Deccan Chargers to the Mumbai Indians. He has captained the Mumbai Indians to a record five titles and has been a force with the bat as well.

The MI skipper ranks fourth in IPL history with 5879 runs in 227 matches and holds 40 half-centuries and a century.

Sharma is well regarded as the most successful captain in IPL history, having steered his Mumbai Indians team to five championship victories.

5) Suresh Raina – 5528 runs

Team(s): Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Lions

The IPL veteran has been a standout in the Indian Premier League. The aggressive batter has succeeded in the shortest format, scoring a number of memorable runs while playing for the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions throughout the years.

Raina has scored 5528 runs in 205 matches. Suresh Raina has also scored a century, and 39 fifties in the league, and has an average run rate of 32.52 throughout the years.
