WHY ARE ENGLAND CRICKETERS WEARING BLACK ARMBANDS? WHO EOIN MORGAN AND THE CRICKET TEAM ARE PAYING TRIBUTE TO IN AHMEDABAD

After England lost the test series against the Indian cricket team which was played at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, they are playing a five matches T20 international series against the same team. The England team has already won the first T20 match. They chased an easy target of 124 runs by team India. The best performances by England team were by Mark Wood, Jason Roy, and Jofra Archer. There are four matches still left and we can’t wait to see how things turn out. The rest of the matches will also be played at the same Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, we noticed one strange thing in the first T20 between India and England, all the England team players were wearing black armbands in the match. They were wearing it as a tribute to former England team player Joey Benjamin. Benjamin died of a Heart Attack last week.

Benjamin started his career with a test match against South Africa on 18th August 1994. He took four wickets in his debut match. In 1999, he retired from international cricket. It was just a seven years career where he started in 1992 at the age of 33 years. He played many other tests and One Day International matches against Australia and other teams. After he got retired from international cricket, he used to work as a coach for a school in the United Kingdom.

England’s cricket board also paid tribute to the former player on Twitter where they wrote that the board was very sad to hear about the death of Joey Benjamin. Many of the key people from the England Cricket fraternity showed their grief on the death of Benjamin.
