Records and cricket:
Over the years cricket has given us many records to remember. There have been massive sixes, big partnerships, high individual scores, great bowling spells, great fielding efforts, and whatnot.
Various legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting, MS Dhoni, Andrew Strauss, James Anderson, Graeme Smith, Sir Vivian Richards, and many others are all remembered for the various records they have created and how they have immensely contributed towards the success of their teams.
Not only international cricket but also the domestic leagues and tournaments are a stage where a lot of records are set and broken. Players like Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, and many more have all set big records on the domestic circuit.
Breaking a 30-year old record:
Recently in the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia, Victoria’s batsmen Will Pucovski and Marcus Harris put up a 486 run stand for the first wicket to break the record of the previous Australian team legends Steve Waugh and Mark Waugh of 464 runs created in Perth in 1990.
In the stand, both batsmen played tremendously with Pucovski scoring 255 and Harris scoring 239. It was Harris’ wicket that finally broke the partnership as he was caught out behind.
