It is pretty evident that Covid 19 has not spared individuals and any industry. Likewise, cricket grounds couldn’t save themselves from the pandemic and initiated few rules to ensure wise protection There are some new rules which have been made in cricket to ensure the safety of people. There is one of the rules according to which, bowler can’t use saliva on the ball. Earlier the bowlers were seen using saliva on the ball to keep the swing of the ball but now they won’t be able to do that.

All the players have been strictly told not to use saliva on the ball due to Covid-19 restrictions though they can use sweat on the ball. The players have also taken the concern seriously and ensured not to use saliva on the ball. Still, some bowlers broke the rules.

On Wednesday, in a test match between England and India which took place in Motera Stadium Ahmedabad, England team’s bowler Ben Stokes mistakenly used saliva on the ball for which he got a warning that if he or any of the other team player does that again, the other team will get 5 runs extra. The ball was sanitized immediately after Stokes applied saliva on it.

ABOUT THE MATCH

Team India lost the toss and the England team decided to bowl first. We believe that things didn’t work out the way Joy Root might have expected as India scored 145 runs in the first innings and the England team got all out for 112. It had been six years since an international match was played at the stadium. 

From the English team, there was only Zak Crawley who hit 53 runs, the rest of the players couldn’t perform well. India’s young star Axar Patel stole the show by taking 6 wickets in the first innings. Three wickets were taken by the all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin and one by Ishant Sharma. It was quite a great match to watch and a large number of people came to see the match. debarring players from applying saliva on the ball will stay for some time as covid-19 impacts are still out there.
