With the help of Shreyas Iyyer’s thunderous batting, India recorded a convincing victory over Sri Lanka in the third and final T20 cricket match played at Dharamsala on Sunday. With this, India won the three-match series 3-0.
Shreyas Iyer scored a half-century in all three matches of the series. He hit 57 in the first T20 while he played an unbeaten 74 in the second T20. In the third and final T20, he hit an unbeaten 73 off 45 balls to help India win the match by 148 for four in 16.5 overs with 19 balls to spare.
Chasing 146 for victory, the Indian team did not have a good start. Captain Rohit Sharma, who was in the opening with Sanju Samson, was dismissed for just five runs. However, Shreyas Iyyer, who came down to bat after that, batted brilliantly and scored a half-century in this match.
This is his third consecutive half-century. However, Sanju Samson was dismissed for 18. Deepak Hooda was then dismissed for 21, Venkatesh Aiyar for 5, but Shreyas (73 not out) saved one wicket. He teamed up with Ravindra Jadeja (22, not out) to lead India to victory.
