New Zealand’s Rachel Priest Announces Retirement from International Cricket

New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Rachel Priest has confirmed her retirement from international cricket, after 13 years of magnificent cricket journey.

Rachel Priest, the face behind the massive inning of 157 runs as a wicketkeeper batswoman in ODI history. She is the only wicketkeeper till now with such a massive inning in a single match.

She was not included in the list of centrally-contracted list of white ferns confirmed earlier month, after which she enlisted herself in Cricket Tasmania to play in Australia Women’s National Cricket League.

Rachel Priest’s career graph looks amazing with 87 ODIs and 75 T20Is for New Zealand, scoring 1694 and 873 runs respectively in both the format with her aggressive and consistent batting.

After Rachel Priest enlisted for Cricket Tasmania, the team amused to declare that “Rachel Priest has signed up with the Tasmanian Tigers (Cricket Tasmania) for the 2020-2021 session.” Rachel Priest was recently chartered with the New Zealand National team, however, she cleared in her words that it was time for her to waive off from international cricket, after a non-renewal of a contract for the arriving season. Cricket Tasmania revealed this verdict on its official website.

Playing in the White Ferns environment, for a short but massive cricket journey of 13 years, most of the part with the team was amazing, she said, “it is with much contemplation that I have decided to retire from international cricket,” this can be viewed in the Cricket Tasmania official website.

According to Rachel, she is in the position where she had played a good amount of cricket till the age she is at. She had played a great number of matches around the world in her 13 years of amazing cricket career. So, she decided to add some experience in Australian cricket leagues and bring a bit of mongrel that (coach Salliann Briggs) spoke to her about.

She also said, “her experience is massive till now, but it’s all about bringing an encouraging belief into the team. Where no matter what the girls are out of the field, but when they come back on the pitch, they must remember one thing, that they are playing for their team and they have to perform their best.”

Well, we would say, ‘All the Best Rachel!’ for your future endeavors and we would certainly love to see you back on the grounds with all the excitement in the new uniform.
