On This Day, India Continued Their Dominance Of Win Over Pakistan In World Events

2014

On this day, India continued their dominance against Pakistan in World Events by winning in the World Cup opener in Mirpur, Pakistan by seven wickets. India restricted Pakistan to just 130 runs and took seven wickets in a twenty-over match. Amit Mishra has shown a tremendous bowling performance before Kohli and Raina drive toward victory. 

1992

A storming match was won by Pakistan over New Zealand on a gusty wicket. New Zealand scored 260 runs in 50 overs where Martin Crowe played a brilliant knock of 91 runs in 83 balls. In response to this, Pakistan got a solid start where Inzamam Ul Haq scored 60 runs in just 37 balls with massive strokes. Pakistan required nine runs off eight balls, Moin Khan played a sweep shot for a six and converted the match into their winning side. 

2015

On this day, we saw the second double hundred of the 2015 World Cup and Martin Guptill was the sixth player to achieve this milestone. He scored 237 runs against the West Indies at Wellington. Guptill was dropped in the first over and he didn’t miss an opportunity anymore. He scored 60% of his total team’s score, which was 393. Guptill scored his first century in 111 balls and the next century in just 41 balls. He broke his record of 189 not out against England in 2013. 

2014

The Netherlands did a historic chase of 190 runs in just 13.5 overs in T20s against Ireland. There was an astonishing display of power hitting by the Netherlands where they scored 91 runs in the power plays. The opening star Stephen Myburgh scored a 17-ball half-century and brought his team to the Super 10 stage. Just after three days after their electrifying performance, they were bowled out for just 39 runs by Sri Lanka. 

1979

It is the birth date of a compact player Grant Elliott, who is a compact batter and a swing bowler in New Zealand. His innings in 2015 against South Africa will always be memorable. He scored an unbeaten 84 runs off 73 balls and brought his team toward the finals. He got a surprising call-up for World Cups and made his team proud with his performance. He retired in 2017 to play as Kolpak in England. 

1971

On this day, Sunil Gavaskar played his second test and scored one of his 34 centuries against West Indies in Guyana. He continued his form and added one more century in the next test and two more centuries in another test. No one came close to his record of 774 runs in the series with an average of 154 in his first series. His 34 hundred too was a record until Sachin Tendulkar surpassed the record 

1984

A breathtaking heroic performance from Australian Star Allan Border against West Indies in Trinidad. With his performance, Australia earned a draw where he scored 98 in the first innings and 100 in the second innings. He survived the last 105 minutes with the last man Terry Aiderman
