Pakistan Lost The Final, Sri Lanka Reclaimed The Asia Cup

The Asia Cup has ended with Sri Lanka winning the tournament and Pakistan as the runner-up team. The final was super energetic and full of suspense.

Despite losing the first 5 wickets in the early stages of the game, Sri Lanka set a target of 171 runs and bowled out Pakistan for just 147 runs, further securing the trophy by winning the match by 23 runs. Let’s dig deeper into what happened during this year’s final match of the Asia Cup. 

Sri Lanka, Despite Losing Early Wickets, Scored A Decent Total.

Yesterday’s match was full of surprises. Sri Lanka lost early wickets and the score was 58 runs with 5 wickets lost, but for the 6th wicket, Banuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga formed a partnership of 58 runs Sri Lanka lost their 6th wicket for 116 runs in the form of Wanindu Hasaranga, who scored 36 runs in 21 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six, with a strike rate of 171.63.

After this wicket, Banuka Rajapaksa and Chamika Karunaratne formed a partnership for the 7th wicket of 54 important runs, which was led by Rajapaksa, who scored fifty and 40 runs in the partnership, which helped Sri Lanka to reach a decent total of 170 runs. Banuka Rajapaksa ended his inning at 71 runs on 45 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes, with a stick rate of 157.78.

In this inning from Pakistan’s side, Hris Rauf took 3 wickets with an economy of 7.25, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed took 1 wicket each.

Sri Lanka Bowlers Disrupt Pakistan’s Batting Order.

The Pakistani batsmen have a job to do and win the match for their team. In today’s T-20 cricket, 170 runs are not a big target and can be achieved easily. Pakistan came down to the pitch and lost 2 wickets for a score of 22 runs.

Fakhar Zaman got the Golden Duck. For the 3rd wicket, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed formed a partnership, but in the 14th over, Pramod Madushan sent Iftikhar Ahmed back to the dressing room by catching and bowling and breaking the partnership of 71 runs at the team score of 93 runs. This wicket led to the fall of the Pakistan team in a consecutive manner.

Pakistan lost their 9 wickets at a score of just 125 runs, meaning they lost 6 wickets in the span of 32 runs. This period proved to be the game changer for Sri Lanka’s team, and they snatched the win from the jaws of Pakistan.

Mohammad Rizwan tried his hardest to bring the cup to his team by smashing a fifty, but it was not enough for the win. He scored 55 runs on 49 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six, with a stick rate of 112.24.

Sri Lankan bowlers have done a spectacular job by stopping Pakistani batsmen at 147 runs only. Pramod Madushan was the most successful bowler from the Sri Lankan side by picking 4 wickets while giving 34 runs in his spell with an economy of 8.50. Wanindu Hasaranga has done a spectacular job by picking up 3 wickets by giving 27 runs with an economy of 6.75. Chamika Karunaratne took 2 wickets and Maheesh Theekshana took 1 wicket as well.

This final tells the world cricket teams that Sri Lanka is still a worthy competitor for the upcoming World Cup and will make it hard for the other teams to win the upcoming World Cup.
