After a long absence from the Indian team, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, the heroes of many battles for the Indian Test team. However, there is a cricketer in the Indian team who has promised to remove himself from the team.

The young Indian player’s name is Hanuma Vihari. Vihari has been a part of the Test cricket squad for a long time. But he never got a chance for India consistently. He gets the chance only when the Indian team has no option left. He performed well in those short opportunities, but his place was never confirmed. Rahane is not sure whether the player will be in the XI despite the omission of veterans like Pujara.

Meanwhile, former Indian fielding coach R Sridhar has revealed a lot of information about Bihari. He said Vihari wanted to keep himself out to give other players a chance in the team. There is a big truth behind the whole incident.

In 2019, the Indian team faced South Africa in a home Test series. Vihari was selected as the sixth batsman in that series. He played the first Test of the series and was dismissed for just ten runs in the first innings. Vihari was fighting for a place in the team in that series.

Then after the first match, he went to Sridhar and thought for the team and demanded to be dropped from the XI. Recalling the incident, Sridhar said, “During the Visakhapatnam Test, I remember he (Hanuma Vihari) came to me and said, ‘Sir, I should not have played this Test.’ However, Hanuma played that Test because he scored a century in the last Test in Jamaica.”

Then Hanuma Vihari said to Sridhar that he should not play the next Test. They should have an extra bowler because we don’t need six batsmen in the way we are batting. Rohit was in great form in that series, Mayank Agarwal was also batting well, and this was his first Test in India at that time.
