WASHINGTON SUNDAR RECALLS GABBA HEROIC SAYING THAT GOING FOR WIN WAS INSTINCTIVE!

The date was 19 January 2021, the day was off Tuesday. And we heard Rishabh Pant make the win in a style by hitting that four and the whole of India just started dancing as India beat Australia in that test match to clinch the series. That was the atmosphere around me.

Washington Sundar shared that they were not going for the win at the first sight. He said that it was an instinctive decision to go for the win. He added that it was a really tense day and he was watching ball-by-ball. The thoughts were of playing those 98 overs to draw the match and it would be great for them too.

Sundar went emotional while sharing his stories of his father!

“If you want it, and you have believed in it, be prepared it even die for it” that’s what Washington Sundar’s father M. Sundar thinks, and believe me it is the status of their Whatsapp.  He was himself a pace all-rounder in his days of playing for Tamil Nadu in the early ’90s and is a true inspiration for Sundar. He shared his stories that his father has faced a lot of struggles in his life and he has fought so hard to make a way for him, Sundar added to his statement.

Significantly, the 21-years-old was a star for the Indian side who has beaten the Aussies. The young all-rounder made a huge contribution with both bat and ball. He hit his maiden test half-ton in the first match and scappled 4 wickets with three wickets in the first innings.

He took the huge wicket of Steve Smith in the first innings as his maiden wicket which helped India to put down Australia on a low score. He almost sent Smith in the second innings but was a bit unlucky. We should not forget his game-changing 22 runs in the second which helped India to go for a win.

He shared the moments of the dressing room that it was very there in the room. They were thinking that Draw from here would be huge. But then India started losing wickets. He was padding up for his chance and Rahane and Rohit were chuckling with him.

That’s true the time he went to bat was crucial. India needed more than 60 runs with just a few overs left. Though Rishabh Pant was on fire from the other side he needed a partner which he got as Sundar. Both left-handers countered back on Aussies bowlers and took the team on the winning side.

Conclusion

It is good to see how youngsters are approaching pressure situations. Their intent is always positive. That’s what we want from young players. I wish a great journey to his young finger spinner.
