Women’s IPL 2023: Punjab Will Have A Team, Wadia Confirms!

Jhulan Goswami, Mitali Raj’s longstanding demand is finally going to be fulfilled. The Women’s IPL 2023 is going to start next year. The Indian Cricket Board wants to organize this competition with six teams.

Board President Sourav Ganguly said on Friday that the decision was approved at the BCCI’s annual general meeting.

The meeting of the Women’s IPL 2023 Governing Council was held in Mumbai on Friday. It was decided at that meeting that the Indian Women’s Premier League will start from next year.

It has been decided that every effort will be made to organize a competition with six teams. The current IPL franchises will be offered preliminary offers to form women’s teams.

Apart from them, various organizations or individuals will be invited to take the women’s team franchise.

Co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings Ness Wadia on Monday said that his franchise is also interested in buying a team in the Women’s IPL.

Following the IPL steering committee meeting held last week, it was proposed to start the women’s IPL with five to six teams next year. In which the current franchise teams will be given priority to be a part of this league.

“We are very much interested in the women’s IPL,” said Ness Wadia, co-owner of the Punjab Kings team. The long-awaited women’s IPL and now it will be very special.

Women’s IPL 2023 cricket has developed a lot in the last few years and women are taking a lot of interest in the sport. It was very sad to see our team lose.

When asked about the base price of the women’s team franchise, Ness Wadia said, “It is up to the BCCI to decide, but I can tell you that we would be very interested if we were given the opportunity to own a team.

I think the future of this league will be very good.”

The BCCI is under pressure to host the women’s IPL. The Women’s Big Bash League has been played in Australia from 2015-to 16 and last year The Hundred Tournament for women also started in England.

The West Indies Cricket Board will also host the Women’s Caribbean Premier League with three teams this year.

BCCI has earned billions of rupees by selling two new teams in the men’s IPL. The board also hopes to receive a large sum for IPL media rights.

Star paid an estimated Rs 16,000 crore for the 2018-2022 season. The BCCI could earn Rs 40,000 crore in the next five years.
