Chennai Super Kings won the first qualifier against Gujarat Titans by 15 runs and made it into the finals of this IPL. We encountered a great match where CSK batted first and posted a total of 172 runs where Gujrat Titans were restricted to 157 runs. Hardik won the toss and opted to field first. CSK got a great start from both of their reliable openers, they built a first-wicket partnership of 87 runs. But then, some quick wickets bring GT into the game again.
The CSK batsman played short innings and contributed some quick runs. GT bowlers did their job very well on this slow wicket but still, CSK reached a score of 172 runs. Shami and Mohit Sharma picked 2-2 wickets. It was a target of 173 runs and Gujrat was looking for a quick start. They got some runs but lost their two important wickets in power plays. On the other hand, Gill was playing amazingly as in the whole IPL and was looking for a partner to build a partnership.
Shanaka and Vijay Shankar scored some runs to keep the scoreboard running. Here the main task for GT was to increase the run rate while ensuring not to lose more wickets. But Gujarat lost 6 wickets under 100 runs and chasing that total was like an unfeasible task. But then Rashid Khan came to bat and started playing some thrilling shots. He scored 30 runs off just 16 balls but still, this target was almost unachievable because the wickets were falling down on the other hand.
CSK spinners were responsible for GT’s poor batting performance. Jadeja and Theekshana picked wickets while controlling the run rate on this turning wicket. At last, GT lost this match by 15 runs. Now GT has to wait for Qualifier 2nd where they will play either with LSG or MI.
