Dhoni Broke Sachin And Dravid’s IPL Record Despite His Health Issues

The crown is left open. But Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made it clear that he is the king of Indian fans. In the first match of IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders scored a great half-century.

And with him, he has broken the record of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar in the IPL.

Dhoni has become the oldest cricketer in the history of IPL to score a half-century. He achieved this feat at the age of 40 years and 262 days. Earlier, the record was held by two former Indian cricketers.

In the 2013 IPL, Tendulkar hit a half-century against Delhi Capitals in 39 years and 362 days. That same year, however, Dravid broke his record. He hit a half-century against the Deccan Chargers at the age of 40 years 116 days. Dhoni broke that record in so many days.

After Dhoni’s bat, he reached the half-century in IPL after three years. He last played an innings of 74 off 46 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019. When Dhoni came down to play against Kolkata, the team’s run was 61 for 5.

Mahi took the helm of the team from there. He had only 2 runs in the first 10 balls. But in the last three overs, a glimpse of that old Dhoni can be seen.

Two days before the start of the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings announced that Dhoni was stepping down as captain. Rabindra Jadeja has been made the new captain. On the day of personal precedent, however, Dhoni’s Chennai lost to Kolkata Knight Riders.

Dhoni Batted Well Despite Health Issues

Cricket fans are overwhelmed to see Mahendra Singh Dhoni batting in the first match of IPL. The former India captain does not play regularly now. However, he prevented the batting disaster of the team. Chena also batted aggressively.

Irfan, a former member of the Indian team, was impressed by Dhoni’s batting against the Kolkata Knight Riders just like any other cricket fan. There is another reason behind his fascination.

Pathan had met Dhoni before the start of Chennai Super Kings’ preparation camp in Surat. The former all-rounder said,

“The innings were very satisfactory. Because now Dhoni is not in regular cricket. Especially before the start of the IPL and was not completely healthy. He was in the process of recovering when he was seen.

He had a physical problem at the time about a month ago.” Dhoni spoke to Pathan about his next business plan. “Those of us who have seen him up close, they always want Dhoni to end his cricketing career while still at the top,” Pathan said.
