In the 23rd match of the IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans by just 3 wickets and claimed the top spot in the points table. It was a close encounter played at Narendra Modi Stadium Ahmedabad where Rajasthan Royals have shown a great performance by taking revenge for the finals played between both of the teams.
Shimron Hetmeyer got the Man of the Match Award for his extraordinary batting performance. Gujarat Titans were always ahead of Rajasthan Royals in this game but Hetmeyer’s knock was really very special and brought his team a tremendous win.
Hardik Pandya was a bit upset after the loss after showing an all-round performance for his team. He will come back with a positive approach in his next game.
As it happened-
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to field first. GT came to bat and they lost Saha in the first over by Boult. Shubhman Gill has shown his class and kept the score running with Sia Sudarshan and then with Hardik Pandya.
After their small partnerships, Miller came to bat and started scoring some quick runs. To finish the innings, he got amazing support from Abhinav Manohar who scored quick 27 runs off just 13 balls. While Miller got out on 46 runs off 30 balls.
Sandeep Sharma bowled a superb spell of 4 over, 25 runs, with 2 wickets. Other bowlers got a bit expensive but they restricted Gujarat Titans to 177 runs in 20 overs.
Rajasthan came to bat with a slow start and they lost both openers in just three overs. Then Sanju Samson and Paddikal built a small partnership before Paddikal got out by Rashid Khan.
Thereafter, Riyan Parag couldn’t make any impact on his team. Sanju Samson had all the burden on his head but Hetmeyer did his job amazingly.
Their partnership was very crucial for Rajasthan Royals to take the game forward. But then, Sanju Samson got out on the score of 60 off just 32 balls.
Thereafter, Heitmeyer did his job very well and kept the score flowing with his power-hitting skills. He also got amazing support from Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin who played some short and quick knocks.
The momentum started shifting towards Rajasthan Royals and finally, they chased this target in 19.2 overs and won the match with 3 wickets remaining. In actuality, RR came into the game when Sanju Samson hit 3 sixes in the over of world-class bowler Rashid Khan.
Hetmyer got Man of the Match in this match for his special knock of 56 runs off 26 balls. Mohammad Shami was the best bowler from GT’s side who bowled a spell of 4 overs, 25 runs, and 3 wickets.
Rashid has also done his job well but his last over was a bit expensive. The biggest question is why Hardik didn’t bring Mohit Sharma to bowl, he just gave 7 runs in 2 overs. He also did a great job in the last match and he can do some amazing variations with the bowl.
