In the 19th match of IPL 2023 between KKR and SRH, it was a close win for SRH even after having a massive score of 229 runs. KKR lost this match by just 23 runs in which Harry Brook was Man of The Match because of his incredible century.
The match was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata where there was full support for the batsman. In the first innings, we have seen no swing and no spin but still, Narine bowled an economic spell.
However, all the other players were quite expensive. The same happened with SRH bowlers, KKR also showed a great batting display but they were short of 23 runs against this massive target.
As it happened
The match started with SRH’s batting where Harry Brook has shown intimating hitting from the first over. Mayank Agrawal couldn’t make any impact but on the hand, Harry Brook was scoring with some niche shot selection.
The best thing was that Broom was not focusing on hard-hitting, he was placing gaps and playing some slicing shots. Tripathi also went on just 9 runs after Mayank Agrawal.
But later on, Markaram gave great support to Harry Brook and both of them built a great partnership. Markaram got out on the last ball of the 13th over with a brilliant 25-ball half-century.
Then Abhishek Sharma also played a classy knock of 32 runs in just 17 balls. On the other hand, Harry Brook was constantly attacking fast bowlers. Umesh Yadav and Lockie Ferguson gave 79 runs in just five overs.
After Abhishek Sharma, Klassen played a short and amazing knock of 16 runs off 6 balls. In the final over of the innings, Harry Brook completed his century and it is the first century of this IPL. He made 100 runs off just 55 balls in a very important game for SRH.
Then Kolkata came to bat and wouldn’t accelerate their innings in power plays. They lost important three wickets in just six overs with a poor run rate. But then Jagdeesan and Nitish Rana built a partnership of 62 runs and then Jagdeesan also lost his wicket.
Russel came but couldn’t make any impact in the innings but then Rinku Singh came and started building a partnership with Nitish Rana. The target was very huge but both of them have shown a great batting performance and brought their team to a good score.
However, the match was in the hands of SRH all the time because of their score. Nitish Rana played an awesome knock of 75 runs in just 41 balls and Rinku Singh scored 58 runs in 31 balls.
Even after their amazing knocks, KKR reached 205 runs and lost the match by just 23 runs.
Harry Brook was given the Man of the Match Award and proved his worth in IPL also. The next matches will be more challenging for both the teams and KKR would like to come with a strong impact to make their place in the play-offs.
