Yesterday Match Results- Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow SuperGiants

In the sixth match of IPL 16, Chennai Super Kings beat Lucknow SuperGiants by 12 runs and registered their first win of this season. The match was played at CSK’s home ground, Chepauk after a long time.

It was a batting surface where bowlers have to struggle a lot by bowling into the right areas. Still, both teams have given a great fightback but CSK kept the foot ahead and defeated LSG by 12 runs.

LSG won the toss and opted to field first. It was a close encounter in which CSK scored 217 runs in 20 overs where LSG got a solid start but with the smart captaincy of MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali turned the game in CSK’s favor and brought his team a marginal win.

As it happened

CSK came to bat with their openers Gaikwad and Conway. Both of the batsmen have given their team a solid start and built a partnership of 110 runs in just 9 overs. Ravi Bishnoi broke the partnership in his first over and in the next over Conway threw away his wicket with a brilliant catch from Krunal Pandya.

The scoring rate goes a bit slow after these wickets. But Shivam Dubey continued the chargeback but it was not a big inning. At some point, it looked like CSK would reach the score of 200 runs only. But the class batting display of Ambati Raydu and two masterstrokes of MS Dhoni brought CSK’s score to 217 runs.

It was a great score at Chepauk. But still, everyone knows that it is not impossible to chase this target because it is a flat batting surface and batsmen can easily score runs on such pitches.

That’s exactly what we encountered in the second innings. Kyle Mayers came back with the same approach where he left off in his last innings. Kyle Mayers scored another half-century in just 20 balls but he was thrashed with the class bowling of Moeen Ali.

LSG’s score in power plays was 80 runs with losing a single wicket. LSG got the start they were looking for. But then, Dhoni brought spinners to turn around the game. Moeen Ali did an excellent job with his bowling performance. His spell was 4 overs, 26 runs, and 4 wickets.

He picked the wicket when LSG was in touch scoring some quick runs. At one end, Moeen Ali started picking wickets and on the other end, Santner was controlling the scoring rate. He bowled 4 overs, given only 21 runs, and one wicket.

Still, Pooran was showing his batting abilities by hitting some extraordinary shots. However, the target was far away and LSG lost five wickets. Dhoni was using the best of his captaincy skills and giving proper orders to their inexperienced fast bowlers.

In the end, CSK won that match by just 12 runs and registered their first win of this IPL. Moeen Ali got the Man of the Match Award in this match for his exceptional bowling performance.
